El Catrin Murial

El Catrin Murial

Over the last couple of years, there has been a wave of Mexican restaurants opening throughout Toronto. Each of them offers its version of tacos, tequila and bourbon cocktails. Each of them provides a different type of setting from playing classic rap music at Grand Electric to vibrant murials at El Catrin. Yet the debate about the best Mexican restaurant amongst all of them continues. In the table below, each restaurant (El Catrin, Grand Electric, La Carnita and Playa Cabana restaurants) was ranked on five different criteria: food, drinks, ambience, service and wait time for a table. Mexican Restaurant Ranking

Pork Belly and Spicy Chicken Tacos at Grand Electric

Pork Belly and Spicy Chicken Tacos at Grand Electric

Without trying to be biased, it came as a surprise that Playa Cabana scored the highest followed by La Carnita and Grand Electric. If I were to choose my ultimate taco place (and everyone’s got one!), it would undoubtedly be Grand Electric – beef cheek and baja fish tacos followed by Hacienda Patron cocktail from Playa Cabana would be a perfect meal marriage… una boda perfecta! Which restaurant do you prefer and why?
